Does Instagram notify when you view a following list?

Updated: 26 October 2026

Short answer: No. Instagram does not notify anyone when you open their followers or following list, or their profile. The only things the other person can see are actions: a follow request, a like, a comment, a story view or a message. Opening a list leaves no trace they can read.

What the other person can see

They can see that you followed them, liked or commented, viewed a story, or sent a message. Scrolling a public list or opening a profile is not shown to them.

Profile views are not shared

Instagram does not give anyone a list of profile visitors, for you or for the people you look at. Any tool that claims to show your profile visitors cannot get that from Instagram.

How Snytch fits

Snytch reads public information and does not contact the account it watches, so the tracked person receives nothing. Your alerts do not reveal who you are to them.

A caution on stories

Story views are the one place where a lookup is visible: the poster sees who viewed their story. Snytch does not open stories as you.
