Track Instagram unfollows, without your password

Updated: 25 July 2026

Short answer: you don't need to give anyone your Instagram password to see who unfollowed you. Trackers like Snytch read the publicly visible follower data of an account and compare it over time, no login, no session, no access to your account at all.

Why you should never give a tracker your password

Apps that ask you to "connect your Instagram account" log in as you. That means: they hold your credentials, they can act as you, Instagram's systems may flag the suspicious login and lock or shadow-restrict your account, and if the app leaks, your password leaks. Instagram's terms explicitly prohibit third-party logins of this kind. No follower stat is worth that.

How no-login tracking works

Everything a logged-out visitor can see on a public profile, follower count, follower list, following list, is public data. A no-login tracker snapshots that data on a schedule and diffs the snapshots. New name in the list? That's a follow. Name gone, confirmed on a second pass? That's an unfollow. Snytch does exactly this, around the clock, and pings you when something moves.

What you can and can't see without logging in

You can track any public account: yours or anyone's. You can't track a private account you don't follow: its lists aren't public, and no honest tool can promise otherwise. (Snytch lets you "arm" a private account: as soon as we see it turn public, tracking starts automatically, we check several times a day.) Anyone claiming to show you a private account's activity without access is lying to you or breaking the law, walk away.

FAQ

Do Instagram follower trackers need my password?

Honest ones don't. Any tracker that works on public data needs only the @ of the account. If an app demands your login, that's the signal to close it.

Can Instagram ban me for using a tracker?

Login-based apps can get your account flagged because they access Instagram as you. A no-login tracker like Snytch never touches your account, there is nothing to ban.

Can I track a private Instagram account?

Not while it's private, its follower data isn't publicly visible, and no legitimate tool can see it. Snytch can watch a private account and start tracking once it goes public, we check several times a day.

What data does Snytch collect about me?

Just an email to sign in. Never your Instagram credentials, there is no Instagram login step anywhere in the product.
