Snytch FAQ: your questions about tracking Instagram unfollowers
Updated: October 21, 2026
Short answer: Snytch is a web app that shows who unfollowed you on Instagram, and every follow or unfollow on any public account you choose. You sign in to Snytch, never to Instagram: it only reads publicly available information and never asks for your Instagram password. Below, 48 answers grouped by topic.
The basics
What is Snytch?
Snytch is a web app that tracks follows and unfollows on public Instagram accounts. You type a username, Snytch takes a reference snapshot of the followers, then checks again regularly and alerts you when someone leaves or arrives. It works for your own account or any other public one.
How does Snytch work, step by step?
First you add the @ of a public account. Snytch records who follows it today. Then it checks again every couple of hours (a bit less often on very large accounts) and compares the lists. When a change is confirmed, you get an alert with who it is and when Snytch caught it.
Who is Snytch for?
Anyone who wants to know who stopped following them, who started following someone, or who a person follows without being followed back. People use it for their own account, a creator account, a brand, a friend group, or simple curiosity about a public profile.
What can I actually see with Snytch?
New followers, unfollowers, the accounts a tracked profile starts following, their follower and following counts over time, and everyone they follow who never followed back. Everything comes from public information. No direct messages, no private likes, nothing behind a login.
How do I start using Snytch?
Open snytch.co, create an account with an email code, Google or Apple, then type the @ of the account you want to track. Snytch takes the first snapshot right away. Alerts start as soon as it detects a change. It works in the browser and can be added to your home screen.
Can I use Snytch on my own account?
Yes, as long as your account is public. Snytch can only read public information, so a private account cannot be tracked. Add your own @ and you will see who leaves and who arrives from that moment on, with no Instagram login.
Privacy and safety
Do I have to give Snytch my Instagram password?
No. Snytch never asks for your Instagram username or password. You only sign in to Snytch itself. Because nothing is connected to your Instagram account, there is nothing for Snytch to post, change, or put at risk.
Will the person I track know about it?
No. Instagram sends no notification when a profile is looked at, and Snytch alerts never reveal who is watching. The tracked person sees nothing, because Snytch reads only what any visitor could already see on a public profile.
Is Snytch safe for my Instagram account?
Yes, in the sense that it never touches your account. Apps that ask for your login can get an account flagged or locked. Snytch has no access to your Instagram session, so it cannot trigger those problems. It only reads public pages.
What data does Snytch collect about me?
Your sign-in details (email or Google/Apple identity), the usernames you choose to track, and the public information Snytch reads about those accounts. It does not read your direct messages or your private activity. The privacy policy lists the processors involved and your rights.
Is Snytch affiliated with Instagram or Meta?
No. Snytch is an independent product, not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Instagram or Meta. It reads information that is publicly visible and does not use your Instagram account in any way.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Delete your account from inside the app. That removes your data and also stops your subscription, so you are not charged again. If you need help or want to exercise a data right, write to [email protected] and we will handle it.
Accuracy and timing
How often does Snytch check an account?
On most accounts, about every 2 hours. Very large accounts are checked a bit less often, around every 3 hours. When a check sees a change, Snytch runs a fuller scan to find out exactly who is involved. It is frequent monitoring, not live monitoring.
Is Snytch real time?
No, and it does not pretend to be. Changes are caught at the next check, then confirmed, so you usually learn about them within a few hours rather than the second they happen. Snytch gives you the name and the moment it caught the change.
Can Snytch tell me the exact minute someone unfollowed?
No. Instagram does not publish when a follow or unfollow happened, so nobody outside Instagram can know the exact time. Snytch shows the moment it detected the change, which is the closest honest answer.
Can Snytch show false unfollows?
Snytch is built to avoid it. A departure is not announced the first time it is noticed: it is re-checked on the next pass and only confirmed if the person is still missing. A glitchy or incomplete list from Instagram does not create a false alert.
Why does a new follower sometimes show up without a name?
Occasionally Instagram returns an incomplete list on a given pass. Snytch detects that the list is shorter than the profile counter, marks the scan as incomplete, and runs another one. The name usually appears after the next full scan.
What if someone blocked me, deleted their account or became private?
From the outside these cases can look similar to an unfollow. Snytch tells whether a person is still visible on Instagram and flags accounts that have disappeared. It cannot always know why someone vanished, so treat a disappearance as a different case from a plain unfollow.
Which accounts you can track
Can I track a private account?
Not while it is private, because Snytch only reads public information. You can still add it: once the account turns public, Snytch starts tracking it and lets you know. Nothing is read from a private profile in the meantime.
Can I track someone else's account?
Yes, any public Instagram account, as long as you have its @. The person is never notified. This is how people follow a friend, a creator, a brand or a competitor without logging in anywhere.
How many accounts can I track?
Snytch Pro includes 3 tracked people. You can add extra targets with an option, and bringing friends who subscribe can unlock more, for as long as they stay subscribed. The price is always shown before you pay.
Does Snytch work on very large accounts?
Yes, with a limit on names. For lists of tens of thousands of followers, Snytch tracks how the count moves instead of listing every individual name. The accounts a large profile follows are tracked by name as usual. Large accounts are also checked slightly less often.
Can I see what happened before I added an account?
No. Instagram keeps no visible history of unfollows, so Snytch can only record changes from the moment you add an account. The first snapshot is the starting point, and everything after it is tracked.
What happens if a tracked account changes its username?
Snytch looks accounts up by their username, so a change can interrupt the updates. If a tracked account stops updating, check whether it changed its @ and add the new one. If the account is deleted, deactivated or turned private, Snytch can no longer read it and marks it unavailable.
Features
What does 'who they follow that ignores them' mean?
Snytch compares the accounts a profile follows with the accounts that follow it back. Everyone they follow who never followed back appears in one list. With Pro you see the names and the number, which is handy to spot one-sided follows.
Does Snytch notify me about stories?
Yes. When an account you track posts a story, Snytch alerts you while it is still online, and a story disappears after 24 hours. You can then watch it on Instagram as usual.
What are squads?
A squad lets a group track the same target together. Everyone in the group sees the same catches and can react live. It is meant for friend groups who want to follow a profile without each of them doing it alone.
What do the notifications show?
Alerts tell you something moved on a tracked account, and they are designed not to show a name on your lock screen. You open the app to see who it is and when it was caught. Push notifications need to be allowed in your browser or installed app.
Can I see how an account's followers evolve over time?
Yes. Snytch records follower and following counts and the movements it confirms, so you can look back at gains and losses since you started tracking. It cannot go further back than your first snapshot.
Does Snytch show who liked or commented on posts?
No. Snytch only follows followers and followings: who arrives, who leaves, and who is followed. It does not read likes, comments, direct messages or anything private.
Pricing and payment
How much does Snytch cost?
Snytch Pro starts at 9.99 euros a week or 29.99 euros a month in Europe, and 11.99 or 34.99 US dollars outside Europe, with 3 tracked people and all names included. Prices depend on your country and are always shown before you pay.
Is there a free plan?
No. Snytch is a paid app, with no free trial tricks and no hidden steps. Each tracked account needs regular checks, which have a real cost. You see the price before paying and can cancel any time.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In the app, in one tap, from your subscription settings. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and you are not charged again. If something goes wrong, write to [email protected].
Which currency will I be charged in?
Euros in Europe, US dollars in most other countries, with local prices in a few markets. The currency and amount are shown on the paywall and again at checkout, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Is the payment secure?
Payments go through an established payment processor, so your card details never pass through Snytch's own servers. You pay in a secure checkout opened from the app, and you can cancel from the app at any time.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled case by case by support. If you were charged by mistake or something did not work as described, write to [email protected] with the email you used to sign in, and we will look at it.

How Instagram works
Does Instagram show who unfollowed me?
No. Instagram shows your current number of followers and your current list, but it never tells you who left or when. If your counter goes from 843 to 842, the app does not say who it was. This is why trackers exist.
Why did my follower count drop suddenly?
It can be a real unfollow, but Instagram also removes fake or inactive accounts from time to time, and people delete or deactivate accounts. A tracker helps tell the difference by showing which accounts disappeared and which simply unfollowed.
Can I check who unfollowed me without any app?
Yes, by saving your follower list and comparing it later by hand. It works for very small accounts but quickly becomes impractical, because the list is not sorted and you miss people who unfollow and refollow.
Are unfollow apps that ask for my password safe?
They are risky. Apps that log in to your Instagram account break Instagram's rules, can get your account flagged, and hold your credentials. A tracker that reads only public information needs nothing but a username.
Will tracking someone get my Instagram account banned?
Not with Snytch. Nothing is done from your Instagram account, because Snytch never logs into it. It reads public pages, which does not involve your account at all.
Is it legal to track public Instagram accounts?
Snytch only reads information that is publicly visible. This is general information and not legal advice, and you remain responsible for how you use what you learn. Do not use it to harass anyone.

No Instagram login. Public accounts only. They will never know.
