How to see who someone unfollowed on Instagram

Updated: 26 October 2026

Short answer: Instagram does not tell you when an account stops following someone, and its following list has no history. To see who someone unfollowed, you need a copy of their list from before and a comparison today. Snytch keeps that copy for any public account and shows each departure once it is confirmed.

Why you cannot see it on Instagram

An unfollow leaves no trace: the name just vanishes from the list. No notification, no log, no date. Even their own followers are never told.

The manual way

Save or screenshot their following list today, then compare it later. It works for a small account and once. It breaks quickly: the list is long, unsorted, and you miss anyone who unfollows and follows again in between.

With a tracker

Add the @ of a public account to Snytch. It stores the starting list, rechecks about every 2 hours and compares. A departure is announced only after a second check confirms the name is still gone, so a glitchy list does not create a fake unfollow. You see who left and when it was spotted. It cannot say why someone left, and a deleted or private account looks the same from outside.

FAQ

Can I see who someone unfollowed in the past?

No. Nothing visible keeps that history, so tracking starts the day you add the account.

Does it work on private accounts?

No, only public ones.

Will they know?

No. Snytch reads public information and notifies no one.
